Paul Kahn, LCSW, DCSW

People who work with Paul say they feel deeply listened to and understood. His approach rests in a trustworthy relationship and focuses on nurturing healthful developmental and coping skills, as well as identifying and resolving problematic patterns. Paul’s primary effort is to help each client achieve his or her personal goals related to what brought them to therapy.

Paul helps his clients believe in themselves and their worth, learn how to set boundaries for self-protection, find the emotional strength to deal with difficult feelings, and to overcome traumatic life events. His clients establish integrity, meaningfulness and the ability to create positive relationships to themselves, others, and the world.

Along with his work as a psychotherapist, Paul has worked as a mental health administrator and psychotherapy educator. He served on a panel writing clinical treatment standards for the State of New Jersey and has developed and directed quality mental health programs in New York and New Jersey for disadvantaged populations.

From Paul:

I care.

I provide individual, couple, and family psychotherapy for adults and adolescents. I offer a holistic approach to treatment integrating relational psychoanalysis, Eugene Gendlin’s Focusing, and contemplative practices.

My practice is a welcoming and safe space open to folks of any gender, orientation, race, or religion. People who work with me feel they are deeply listened to and understood. This is the foundation of my work, and just as important than the traditions and techniques in which I have trained and use in doing therapy.
